We only discovered earlier today that filming on Marvel's Venom movie had officially kicked off, and now we have more of an idea about what kind of filming it involves.
Although not involved in the movie, motion-capture legend Andy Serkis may have just accidentally let slip that Tom Hardy's Venom isn't a traditional performance.
While speaking to Yahoo Movies about the nature of performance capture, Serkis appeared to add Tom Hardy into the mix of actors known for their motion-capture work.
Name-checking War for the Planet of the Apes' Karin Konoval and The BFG's Mark Rylance, Andy then dropped aVenom-shaped hint.
Referencing "the new Marvel films", Andy continued: "Tom Hardy is playing a new character using performance capture."
Now of course Serkis hasn't directly said that Tom Hardy's role as Venom will be motion-captured, just that both Marvel and Tom are into the tech. Take of that what you will.
The nature of Venom's beast is yet to be seen, but something we do at least know is that Michelle Williams and Rogue One's Riz Ahmed are joining Hardy on the film from Sony's Marvel Universe.
Michelle will play a district attorney turned love interest, while Riz will take on a "popular Marvel Comics character" that isn't villain Carnage. Apparently.
Venom is scheduled for release on 5 October, 2018.
