Choosing the right Halloween costume is always a difficult decision, and unfortunately for David Walliams it looks as though his choice for this year's outfit isn't one that has paid off.

Sharing a photo of him in costume over on Twitter, David wished his followers "Happy Halloween from Kim Jong-un."

Dressed as the leader of North Korea, David can be seen wearing a suit similar to Kim Jong-un's, as well as a wig and what appears to be prosthesis.

Some people on Twitter were quick to pick up on Walliams' prosthetic make-up – which looks to have altered his eyelids as well as hairline – and accused the comedian of 'Yellowface'.

Hitting out at the Britain's Got Talent judge, followers labelled Walliams' costume as "racist" and "gross". One responded: "You ought to be utterly ashamed of yourself."

This isn't the first time Walliams' comedy has been criticised, as former collaborator Matt Lucas recently admitted that some of his and David's Little Britain sketches were "cruel" in hindsight.

Reflecting on some of the sketches in the cult series, Lucas conceded that he probably "wouldn't make" the same show again if he had the opportunity to revisit it.

"If I could go back and do Little Britain again, I wouldn't make those jokes about transvestites. I wouldn't play black characters.

"Basically, I wouldn't make that show now. It would upset people."
