While Noel Gallagher was busy debuting his new song during an appearance on Later... with Jools Holland earlier this week, the rest of us were busy wondering what on earth was going on with that scissors player in his band.

You know, the scissors player? As in, the person playing the actual pair of scissors in the background?

Whether or not the sound of the scissors can be heard over the sound of the drums, guitar and Noel Gallagher's singing is another matter entirely (it almost definitely can't), but the fact that Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds performed on the BBC series with a scissors player at all certainly caught the attention of viewers.

Which means that, of course, most of them quickly turned to Twitter to share their disbelief/jokes/praise of reaching peak Gallagher:

Some viewers were suddenly aware they had another transferable skill they could add to the old CV after watching the performance:

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds played the opening and closing performances of Wednesday's episode of Later... and it should be noted that the scissors player did actually do more than just play the scissors, having also provided backing vocals during first performance 'Holy Mountain'.
