Meek Mill was sentenced to two to four years in prison on Monday after a Philadelphia judge ruled that he'd violated his probation. The rapper was arrested in March for misdemeanour assault then again in New York for reckless driving and endangerment. Though both of those charges have been dropped, they were enough for Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley to send him back to prison for an extended time. Mill was first put on probation in 2009 after serving jail time for a drug and gun conviction. Throughout the last eight years, he's violated his probation, which has resulted in jail time in 2014 and house arrest last year.

Hours after the sentence was handed down, Jay-Z took to Facebook to speak out against what he thought was "unjust" treatment.

"The sentence handed down by the Judge—against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer—is unjust and heavy handed," Jay-Z wrote. "We will always stand by and support Meek Mill, both as he attempts to right this wrongful sentence and then in returning to his musical career."
