Olivia Newton-John's ex-boyfriend has been reportedly found after going missing 12 years ago.

American cameraman Patrick McDermott, who disappeared while on a 2005 fishing trip, is allegedly alive and well and was discovered in a small town in Mexico.

Australian weekly magazine New Idea reports that private investigators tracked down a photograph of McDermott in the Mexican town of Sayulita a month ago. The picture shows a man of striking resemblance alongside a woman on a beach.

"The widow's peak is exact. The eyes are very similar and the ears extend down on the head the same distance. I believe it is him," private detective, Charlie Parker, told the magazine.

McDermott was officially declared dead in 2008, following his 2005 disappearance. He had left Pedro Marina, LA, in a fishing boat on 30 June, but was never found. His personal items, including his wallet, were left aboard.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance prompted speculation that he had faked his own death. In March 2016, reports emerged that he was living in Mexico with his girlfriend.

Last September, Newton-John discussed her grief at losing at her then partner on Australian TV series 60 minutes.

"It's human to wonder but you know, those are the things in life you have to accept and let go," she said. "Because whenever you go through difficult times, there's always those concerns. But, I live on and of course questions come up, always, it's human."
