Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Daisy Ridley left social media last year, and it doesn't look like she'll be returning any time soon.

While Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill continues to be a Twitter legend, Daisy has sworn off social media forever.

"I came off it last September and I will never go back on," Daisy told Radio Times.

"The more I read about teenage anxiety, the more I think it's highly unhealthy for people's mental health.

"It's such a weird thing for young people to look at distorted images of things they should be".

Daisy quit social media last year after bizarrely being accused of hypocrisy for speaking out against gun violence – because she plays an action star who uses a blaster in movies.

Before giving up social media, Daisy was well-known for her amazing posts on Instagram.

But not only does she no longer post – she has since deleted her account.

In April last year, while she was still using the site, Daisy spoke up about the issue of self-esteem and social media in a blog post.

"Social media is great but also a bit scary cause what people post is the most filtered, most carefully chosen and cleverly edited moments of their lives," she said.

"And self-esteem is a huge issue for people around the world.

"My skin isn't great so I don't post no make-up selfies, much as I'd like to; I have a trainer urging me on in workouts and don't include all the times I say 'I can't do it' and I don't smile all the time but I like to share the pictures where I am.

"But I actually do love myself, I try to think good thoughts always and am surrounded by the most wonderful people, so I'm keeping it balanced (like the Force, obvs). Just thought I'd say."
