The song was originally recorded for a band called Apollonia 6 but after hearing The Bangles debut album All Over the Place, Prince offered the song to the band's rhythm guitarist Susanna Hoffs, under the pseudonym Christopher.
2 | 'How Come You Don't Call Me' by Alicia Keys
Originally released as 'How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore'? by Prince as a B-side to his single 1999. Alicia's cover went to number 26 in the UK singles chart.

MC Hammer's follow up to the smash hit U Can't Touch This samples Prince's When Dove's Cry. Pray is one of a handful of songs Prince legally sanctioned to be sampled.

Appearing on Prince's self titled album in 1979, Chaka Khan turned it into a hit in 1984. Prince won a Grammy for the track in 1985.

Another Prince B-side turned into album track. 'When You Were Mine' appeared on Cyndi Lauper's debut album She's So Unusual in 1983.
