Works of art will be popping up at all kinds of unusual locations at this month’s Liverpool Biennial. An elevator erupting out of the floor will upset the glossy and glassy One shopping centre thanks to Israeli artist Oded Hirsch (artist’s impression, above).
Argentinian artist Jorge Macchi will take an industrial-scale iron H-beam, bend it to an impossible curve, and wedge it into a pristine public space.
Finally, Elmgreen and Dragset, the installation artists currently rocking the Fourth Plinth in London’s Trafalgar Square, will set up a VIP door in the Cunard Building that is slightly ajar but cannot be opened and as a result of which, we assume, much hilarity will ensue - here’s hoping the cast of Desperate Scousewives is invited to the private view.
Liverpool Biennial 2012 takes place between 15 September and 25 November
