William Shakespeare meets Star Wars in Verily, A New Hope | Exclusive extracts

William Shakespeare's Star Wars - book cover

The works of William Shakespeare have been re-invented in just about every way imaginable - from contemporary telling like Romeo + Juliet and Joss Whedon's recent Much Ado About Nothing to time-travelling in Doctor Who, the Bard is perhaps the most durable wordsmith in all of written history.

Now - at last - Shakespeare and the world of George Lucas are colliding headfirst in a new mash-up book called William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, a New Hope.

Ian Doescher's tome, accompanied by eye-catching woodcut illustrations of all your favourite Star Wars characters, weaves Luke Skywalker and co into the verse of Shakespeare for a trip through a (star-crossed) galaxy far, far away.

This officially licensed book checks off everything from Hamlet, Richard III, Romeo and Juliet and Henry V for its very unique take on Star Wars. Esqurie has three exclusive excerpts from the book alonside a trio of Nicolas Delort's images ahead of its upcoming release in July. Take a look in our first look gallery.
