Yesterday, George R. R. Martin put a lengthy post up on his blog, which provided an in-depth analysis of his shitty year so far—specifically with the Giants losing early in the NFL postseason. At the end, he briefly mentioned that the show, for which he is both famous and wealthy, lost miserably at the Golden Globes.

In the comment section of said post, many avid fans provided Martin with responses that ranged from discussing the quality of award shows to whom the Giants should pick up to fill out their offensive line. One comment, though, took issue with Martin's continued reluctance to release, or even provide updates, about the forthcoming sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter.

"It has been a whole year since we have received an update," the comment complained. "Even if its as simple as, 'not done yet, but ive made progress( or not) ', or ' it'll be out this year (or not)'. Anything(or not)."

Martin, always eager to busy himself with tasks other than writing the conclusion to his beloved fantasy saga, promptly replied.

"Not done yet, but I've made progress. But not as much as I hoped a year ago, when I thought to be done by now," Martin wrote. "I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year)."

So, there you have it. Expect The Winds of Winter in 2017. Though, probably not.
