While Darth Vader was the one who walked into that white hallway, choked out that rebel soldier, and helped interrogate Princess Leia in Star Wars: A New Hope, the opening scene of that movie also introduced another chilling villain. It's Grand Moff Tarkin who gives the command to destroy Alderaan to test the power of the Death Star. He remains, throughout the original trilogy, the chilling militaristic likeness of the Third Reich.

And though Peter Cushing, who originally portrayed Tarkin, died in 1994, the character makes a subtle appearance in the new teaser for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. There have long been rumors that Star Wars could use some impressive CGI to revive Tarkin in the upcoming Rogue One prequel movie. Of course, since the new film involves the team who steals the plans to the Death Star, Tarkin's role as the battle station's commander will be pivotal.

Entertainment Weekly first pointed out that the new 30-second teaser for Rogue One shows a character who from behind looks remarkably like Tarkin. The new teaser was used to promote advanced ticket sales for Rogue One, which began at midnight and crashed Fandango.
