Raging Bull, Martin Scorsese's 1980 biopic of boxer Jake LaMotta, is considered one of the greatest films of all time. Robert De Niro won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his stunning and dedicated portrayal of the boxing champion. The film chronicles the troubled and violent rise and fall of the very flawed but extremely talented man. For the last three-and-a-half decades, Raging Bull has firmly made its place in history as the one and only biopic about Jake LaMotta—and one would think that's how it should remain.

Yet, we now have The Bronx Bull, an "unofficial sequel" to Scorsese's film that comes out in January and continues the story of Jake LaMotta's life. It's unclear why any filmmaker would think we'd need some sort of unofficial sequel to Raging Bull. Why would it not star De Niro? Why would it not be directed by Scorsese? And why would it be called The Bronx Bull, LaMotta's other nickname that's very similar to the Raging Bull?

Despite all these valid questions, the movie—which stars William Forsythe as LaMotta and also features Paul Sorvino, Tom Sizemore, Penelope Ann Miller, Joe Mantegna, Cloris Leachman, and Harry Hamlin—is still happening. Based on the trailer below, it looks a little bit like the Lifetime Original Movie version of LaMotta's life. It has that low bass drop sound from every movie trailer paired with a sick LaMotta uppercut. It has the line, "I made me a champ. I did it all on my own. Me. With these." [Shakes fists.]
