I would argue that more often than not trailers are better than movies. Consider some examples from 2016: Suicide Squad, Batman v Superman, Zoolander 2. Every single one of these had a trailer that was better than the movie. You see all the CGI, all the stars, all the exciting parts, all the funny parts, and get all the major plot points in one concentrated clip. They're short! They're free!
So what happens when you put them all together? You get a six-and-a-half-minute short film that makes absolutely no sense, but it looks really cool! Seeing as that describes most blockbuster movies from this year, you might as well watch this mashup supercut of every trailer from 2016 instead of spending money to see Doctor Strange.
