In case you didn't know, the new live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast features Disney's first ever gay character and love scene.

And while most of us are thrilled by this news, some people still a have problem with homosexuality being portrayed in the 2017 film.

Yep, despite President Donald Trump's very obvious bromance with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Russia (who else?) isn't happy with the idea of that gay moment in the film.

The scene in question features Gaston and his right-hand man LeFou, who struggles with working for a master he adores.

Anyway, following calls for Beauty and the Beast to be banned from Russia because the movie breaches the country's law against "gay propaganda", the family film will still be released on March 16 – BUT with 16+ rating... to prevent children from watching it.

It comes after Russian culture minister Vladimir Medinsky agreed to review the film in accordance with Russian law following concerns from ruling party MP Vitaly Milonov, who referred to the film's content as "perverted sexual relations".

Certification in Russia is decided by the ministry of culture.

In 2013, the Russian government passed a law banning the spread of so-called "gay propaganda" among minors, and ministers held a screening last week to determine whether Beauty and the Beast abides with this ruling.
