Prepare for a long-awaited return to planet Pandora, because Sigourney Weaver has just revealed that filming for Avatar 2 will begin in the autumn.

"We're starting!" Sigourney told The Hollywood Reporter. "We're starting training, and we're starting - hmm, I probably can't say anything. We will be actually shooting it by the fall."

Avatar creator and director James Cameron has previously said that the scripts for all four film follow-ups have been written, and that Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will be reprising their roles along with Sigourney.

The release date for the hugely-anticipated sequel to the 2009 blockbuster hit has yet to be confirmed, but Sigourney has assured fans that it will be well worth the wait.

"I'm telling you, these scripts are so amazing, I'm not worried about [disappointing fans] at all," she continued to THR.

"Am I worried about how we're going to bring them to life? Yes, because they're so ambitious. They're so worth it.

"They're well worth waiting for. I'm not worried about that at all. We're trying to get it done as quickly as possible."

It's been predicted that Avatar 2 could arrive in 2019, with Avatar 3 in 2020, Avatar 4 in 2022, and Avatar 5 in 2023. Which is a lot of Avatar, obviously.
