Sophie Turner isn't done with the X-Men universe yet. After appearing in last year's Apocalypse as a young Jean Grey, the actress will star in a spinoff film titled Dark Phoenix, which will delve even deeper into her character's storyline. The project is set to release next year, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The film will reportedly adapt the Dark Phoenix Saga of the X-Men comics, and focus on Grey's uncontrollable (and explosive) telepathic abilities. Fans already saw a version of this plot in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, where Famke Janssen starred as an adult Jean, but it was "one of the most poorly received installments of the franchise," according to EW. Thus, it makes sense why producers would want to take another stab at this storyline.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will hit cinemas on 2 November 2018.
