Darren Aronofsky used US Mother's Day as an opportunity to unveil the poster of his new film, Mother, starring Jennifer Lawrence.

As you'd expect from the director who gave us Black Swan, the film looks uncomfortably chilling. The poster features an illustration by acclaimed artist James Jean showing a beatific Lawrence holding a bloody heart in her hand which has been ripped out of her chest.

Mother sees Lawrence play opposite Javier Bardem as they play a couple dealing with uninvited guests. The psychological thriller also stars Kristen Wiig, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer.

The film will be released later this year on 13 October.
