If there's one thing superfans love, it's inventing shared universes. There's the theory that all the Pixar movies are in the same universe and a more or less confirmed theory that every Quentin Tarantino movie is in the same universe. Now, we already know that all the Marvel movies exist in the same ambitious superhero universe, but it's possible that these connections were even more detailed than we previously thought.

For a few years, fans have speculated that Captain America: Civil War was not Spider-Man's first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Rather, Spider-Man first showed up as a little kid in Iron Man 2 back in 2010. It's a scene near the end of Iron Man 2, where a kid in an Iron Man mask pretends to shoot at a robot when Iron Man lands next to him, blasts it away, and says, "Nice work, kid."

You never see the kid's face, but since this scene takes place in Queens where Peter Park lives and the ages actually line up, fans have always believed it to be a young Spider-Man. Well, in a new interview with Huffington Post, Tom Holland, who will play Spider-Man in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming has confirmed it.

"It is Peter Parker," he said. "I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I've just done a big, old spoiler, but it's out there now. It's cool. I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning."

Then, later, Gizmodo asked director Jon Watts if there might be more connections between young Spidey and the early Avengers movies.

"You have to think about two really big events," Watts said. "The one is seeing Tony Stark on TV, reveal to the world that he's Iron Man. That would be so dramatic. Then, yes, the events at the end of Avengers would be a big deal to a little kid. And I think that might be something that would be worth exploring."
