The new film adaptation of Stephen King's It is one of the most anticipated movies of the year—particularly for people who grew up terrified of clowns thanks to Tim Curry's haunting portrayal of Pennywise in the 1990 TV miniseries. Bill Skarsgard has big shoes to fill when the film hits theatres in September. While the first trailer for the movie is scary as hell, the 26-year-old Skarsgard still has to prove that Curry's Pennywise isn't the definitive scary clown.

Skarsgard—son of actor Stellen and younger brother to Alexander—wasn't the only person in mind for the role of the personification of evil that haunts the town of Derry, Maine. JoBlo's Eric Walkuski reveals that during a set visit, a journalist jokingly asked director Andrés Muschietti if he and his producers had considered Tilda Swinton for the role. (She can do anything, after all.)

Shockingly enough, the answer was yes.

"She wasn't available," Muschietti said. "No, no I swear to god. She was not. We had a slot to shoot the movie and she wasn't available so she didn't even audition. But of course, we all thought about it."

Just imagine Oscar-winning Swinton in all of that pancake makeup, threatening a group of pre-teens in a small town. Maybe it's for the best, as I don't think we could handle that kind of sheer terror.
