Not satisfied with adapting one Stephen King classic, IT director has revealed he has his eye on another chilling tale from the author.

Andy Muschietti, whose new movie has recently released a slate of terrifying trailers, has revealed that King's tale Pet Sematary is on his dream list of movies to make.

"We're huge fans of Pet Sematary," Muschietti told the Toronto Sun of himself and sister/writing partner Barbara, adding that they already had ideas floating around.

"If we can get our hands on that and do the Pet Sematary we want to do, that will be something. One day, maybe."

The original 1983 horror novel depicts a mysterious burial ground that brings a deceased cat and child back from the dead, though both are now evil versions of their former selves.

It was previously adapted into a 1989 movie, which received middling reviews, while a remake has been in the works for some time. Guillermo del Toro and Matt Greenberg had previously been linked to a new version.

However, if Muschietti's IT remake pays off, who knows whether Pet Sematary may see the light of day sooner?

The latest trailer for IT dropped a few days ago, depicting the scary clown Pennywise once again terrifying children – although some of the children are themselves terrifying as they chant "kill them all" over and over.

IT creeps into cinemas on September 8.
