Millarworld, the comic book company responsible for Kick-Ass, Kingsman and more, has been bought by Netflix.

The publishing house is run by Mark Millar, who worked on Captain America: Civil War and Logan in his time at Marvel. It was established in 2004, and many of its creations have already been turned into movies.

The collaboration with Netflix will mean many of Millar's other worlds will become TV series and movies.

Ted Sarrandos, Netflix's chief content officer, said of the acquisition : "As creator and re-inventor of some of the most memorable stories and characters in recent history, ranging from Marvel's The Avengers to Millarworld's Kick-Ass, Kingsman, Wanted and Reborn franchises, Mark is as close as you can get to a modern day Stan Lee."

He added: "We look forward to creating new Netflix Originals from several existing franchises as well as new super-hero, anti-hero, fantasy, sci-fi and horror stories Mark and his team will continue to create and publish."

Millar, for his part, had plenty of positives to say about the partnership also.

"I'm so in love with what Netflix is doing and excited by their plans," he said. "Netflix is the future and Millarworld couldn't have a better home."

This is the first company acquisition that Netflix has ever made, so it's a pretty exciting time for comic book fans to see what the new partnership will bring to our screens.
