Because one major movie universe clearly isn't enough for Riz Ahmed, it looks like the Star Wars actor is on his way to all things Marvel.

Yep, Riz is reportedly in early talks to join Spider-Man spin-off Venom, alongside fellow Brit Tom Hardy as the title character.

His exact role hasn't emerged just yet, but Variety reports that he'll play a "popular Marvel Comics character", and The Hollywood Reporter adds that he's definitely not playing the villain Carnage.

Although Venom is one of the Spider-Man series' most popular players, Sony has announced that this movie will be separate from the Spider-Man universe and stand on its own.

Ahmed and Hardy (above in his Venom shirt) make for an impressive cast, and the crew isn't bad either. Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer is directing, while Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower) will write the script.

Venom made his big-screen debut in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 (as played by Topher Grace below), but has been in the comics ever since 1988. Also known as a photographer named Eddie Brock, he becomes Venom when bonded with an alien Symbiote.

As for Ahmed, this would be yet another major role for the actor, who also recently made TIME's 100 most influential people list.

Venom is currently expected to hit screens on 5 October, 2018.
