The last thing the uneven DC Universe needs is more Joker. However, in just the last week, news has emerged that Warner Bros. is planning not one, but two new Joker movies. One is some sort of gritty origin story produced by Martin Scorsese and the other is a comic book romcom with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and Method Actor Jared Leto's Joker. The two films, for whatever reason, will exist in separate universes.

Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the plan to get Scorsese on board with a Joker movie also involves Leonardo Dicaprio "as a gritty crime boss in a Scorsese-esque Gotham underworld":

Sources say Warners will make an ambitious attempt to use Scorsese to bring Leonardo DiCaprio into the world of comic-book movies. Certainly, Scorsese's involvement in The Joker film, which The Hangover filmmaker Todd Phillips would direct, could elevate and diversify the studio's contributions to the genre, creating the potential to make awards-worthy films such as Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy. There's no offer for DiCaprio, and sources say Scorsese's deal to produce isn't even done yet.

Oof. Please don't. First of all, it's unlikely DiCaprio would even take the role, considering Heath Ledger so famously played the Joker less than a decade ago, and DiCaprio has always avoided these types of parts. During his career, he's turned down roles in Star Wars, Spider-Man, and Robin in Joel Schumacher's disastrous Batman Forever. But also, don't think that Scorsese and Leo are enough to save what's an ill-fated idea in the first place—and don't drag DiCaprio down with it.

What's kind of funny is these plans for another Joker movie have reportedly ticked off Method Actor Jared Leto. "Leto is said to have made his displeasure with the notion of multiple Jokers known to his CAA agents, and rival agency WME has been using the concern to court him," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

So things are definitely going great in the DC Universe!

At least Wonder Woman is good.
