Anyone who's seen an interview with Kevin Spacey knows the guy has a trove of impressions at his disposal. His Johnny Carson is probably the best of all time. His Pacino is perfect. During all those impersonations, Kevin Spacey always looks like Kevin Spacey. That's not the case in the new trailer for All the Money in the World, in which Spacey puts on about 10 pounds of makeup to become oil tycoon J. Paul Getty.

Directed by Ridley Scott, the thriller is based on the 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III, the oil tycoon's grandson. Old Man Getty, who was worth an estimated $1.2 billion at the time, refused to pay the 16-year-old's $17 million ransom. Both Getty and the police were skeptical of the legitimacy of the kidnapping, believing the relatives were trying to squeeze money from the billionaire. In response, the kidnappers cut off the boy's ear and sent it to a newspaper, prompting the Gettys to negotiate a $2.2 million ransom.

In the film, Michelle Williams plays the boy's mother, Abigail Harris; Mark Wahlberg plays Getty's advisor trying to negotiate the situation.

The movie hits theaters on December 8.
