Sylvester Stallone has confirmed that he'll be directing Creed 2.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Stallone wrote: "Looking forward to directing and producing the incredibly talented Michael B Jordan in Creed 2 next year… One more round!"

He has previously directed all other outings in the Rocky franchise, bar the very first movie, Rocky V and Creed, and it will be his first directing gig since The Expendables.

Last month, it seemed as though Stallone had confirmed that Creed 2 will be out in cinemas in 2018, but now it seems that it was a reference to when they'll be shooting the sequel.

Creed 2 could well still hit cinemas in 2018, but there has been no confirmed release date as of yet.

The sequel could feature another Rocky vs Drago showdown with Stallone previously teasing a connection to Rocky IV, the sequel that saw Rocky head to Moscow to avenge the death of Creed at the hands of Dolph Lundgren's Ivan Drago.

"Here's a chance to stretch your imagination … HISTORY WILL ALWAYS REPEAT ITSELF IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER, JUST GOT TO BE READY! … Sins of the Father," Sly wrote on a photo that superimposed Jordan's Adonis opposite Drago.

For more information on Creed 2, it seems as though we might all want to start following Stallone on Instagram.
