Ben Affleck's The Batman isn't the only film featuring The Dark Knight that's in the works (if he's going to stick with it, that is).

Introducing... Batman Ninja.

This Japanese anime movie about the Caped Crusader features our hero transported to feudal Japan, where he faces off against a samurai version of arch nemesis The Joker.

As totally bonkers as it sounds, it's not a ridiculous fan project but actually a completely official Warner Bros production featuring some of Japan's top talent:

Eagle eyed viewers will notice appearances from Japanese versions of Robin, Nightwing, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Deathstroke, Alfred, The Red Hood, Catwoman, Two-Face and (incredibly) Gorilla Grodd!

It also looks like The Joker turns into a giant acid monster at the end. Incredible scenes.

On the production side of the film, we have people who've worked on many notable anime shows, such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Gurren Lagann and the Samuel L Jackson-starring Afro Samurai.

The film is scheduled for a release on DVD and Blu-ray in 2018. We're really hoping for an English dub (with Kevin Conroy please!) and at least a limited theatrical run like The Killing Joke had.

Recently, Warner Bros released Batman vs Two-Face: an animated film set in the universe of the 60s TV show and featuring the voice of Adam West in his final performance recorded before his death.
