The brains, the bouffant, the body: Dr Ian Malcom is finally back!

It has been some 20 years since Jeff Goldblum last portrayed the charismatic character in Universal's Jurassic franchise, but Ian's long-awaited return is at last coming in JA Bayona's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Ahead of the movie's full trailer drop, a slow drip-feed of footage has kept dino fans ravenous for more.

Now, the latest featurette gives audiences their first look at Malcolm in action.

Despite some pyrotechnics and more teeth than a Jaws movie, the star of the new footage was easily Goldblum's glorious cameo as the muttering mathematician.

As Chris Pratt himself says, "Jeff Goldblum, not gonna lie, that's pretty awesome", which echoes producer Colin Trevorrow's comments that working with Goldblum was one of the best parts of the sequel.

Telling the "next chapter" of the prehistoric saga, the behind-the-scenes footage shows that we're going back to the island while also pushing into territory unknown.

The featurette promises more dinosaurs than ever, so it make sense that Fallen Kingdom would bring on board someone who's been here before.

Alongside the returning cast like Goldblum, Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and BD Wong, Fallen Kingdom is also introducing fresh meat with James Cromwell and Toby Jones.

Although Goldblum has confirmed that his part is relatively small in the franchise's fifth movie, let's hope that Dr Malcolm's cat-like survival skills can see him... er... find a way into the expected third chapter of the "new" trilogy.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hopes to take a bite out of the UK box office on 8 June, 2018 and US cinemas on 22 June, 2018.
