The verdict is in: after much deliberation and endless debate, YouGov has revealed that most Brits don't think Die Hard is a Christmas film.
The 1988 movie follows NYPD officer John McClane (Bruce Willis) as he tries to save his wife Holly Gennaro and several others who've been taken hostage by German terrorist Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles.
YouGov made two polls which would determine British people's stance on whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not.
The first one asked people whether they would "consider a movie that takes place at Christmas time, but is not about Christmas itself, to be a Christmas movie".
It then gave them three options ('Yes', 'No' and 'I don't know') to choose between.
Of 457 adults in the UK questioned, 31% said 'Yes', 50% said 'No' and 19% said 'I don't know'.
YouGov then did a new survey explicitly about Die Hard, backing this up with almost identical results.
Asked whether "they think Die Hard is a Christmas movie", half of Brits (52%) said 'No' and only 30% said they believe it is. The remaining 18% apparently don't know one way or the other.
