Paloma Faith has put her hat in the ring to sing the next James Bond theme.

The singer appeared on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 earlier today (8 December), where the host asked whether she was "permanently auditioning to do a Bond theme".

"I feel like I was built for it," Paloma responded. "I actually worked with Shirley Bassey, and she said to me, 'Darling, you're the new me!' There's no more praise than that."

The star then pleaded: "Barbara Broccoli, the woman who does it, if you're listening, please," before singing a snippet of 'Diamonds Are Forever'.

Adele and Sam Smith sang the last two themes respectively, so Paloma would certainly be in good company should she get the gig.

The as-yet-untitled Bond 25 was confirmed earlier this year, with Daniel Craig set to return as the iconic spy.

While details understandably remain scarce, a few things we do know are that Blofeld actor Christoph Waltz and director Sam Mendes won't be returning.

Among those in contention to take over the latter's job is Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve, who has been in talks to take charge of 007's next outing.

Bond 25 will be released on 8 November, 2019.
