James Franco Is Releasing An Album Inspired By The Smiths

Unlucky, Morrissey

James Franco, the actor, writer, proud moustache wearer and now musician, has released a debut album with his band - the slightly creepily named Daddy - and it's all inspired by The Smiths.

Titled Let Me Get What I Want (Smiths reference 1), Franco and partner Tim O'Keefe even enlisted the help of original Smiths bassist Andy Rourke, who plays on every track.

Speaking on the band's influences, Franco said: "We loved the sound of the English New Wave, especially The Smiths. The album was meant to reflect that, but with our own twists. The experiences of youth play so well into this sound."

It's yet to be seen whether Franco is planning on becoming a bitter, callous, mean-spirited vegan, though.
