"I think there's probably room for one more kind of "Trainspotting"-themed film," he told Time Out last week.

Welsh's novel Trainspotting was published in 1993 and followed up with Porno in 2002 on which T2: Trainspotting it loosely based. He's also penned a spin-off based on the character of Begbie titled The Blade Artist which he believes could form the basis of a third film. "You never know what's going to happen with these things" he said, "It's a very, very filmic book, I think. It's almost like, bang, it has a three-act structure with not a lot of padding. And it's a lot more genre than some of the other Trainspotting books."

We can only hope that he doesn't keep going so long we end up watching the boys arguing about whose turn it is to put the kettle on, though given their penchant for the wild life we're not sure that's where the story is heading.
