Ryan Gosling And The Director Of 'La La Land' Announce Their Next Project Together

The Gos' is going to the moon

Fresh off the back of winning a golden wheelbarrow full of awards thanks to La La Land, Ryan Gosling and director Damien Chazelle have announced the release date for their next project: a biopic based on the life of Neil Armstrong.

Gosling will, unsurprisingly, take on the role of the late NASA astronaut, with the film focusing on his life from the year 1961 up to the famous Moon landing in 1969.

Universal has confirmed that First Man will be released on 12 October 2018 – in time for the 2019 awards season. Chazelle will direct, while the script was drafted by Spotlight writer Josh Singer. Not a bad creative team, then?

Based on James Hansen's biography First Man: The Life Of Neil A. Armstrong; as well as Armstrong's life, the film will focus on the aftermath of the space mission on both the astronauts and America as a whole.
