We've been on a good run with great horrors, recently. Already this year we've shit bricks over critically acclaimed terror tales like Get Out, It Comes at Night and the stomach-curdling French import Raw. What's more, it shows no signs of stopping.
Annabelle's Creation, the prequel to 2014's Annabelle revealing how the creepy doll came into existence, is set for release in the UK next month, and already it's managed to wrack up a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from a number of critics.
Which is strange considering Annabelle, itself a spin-off from 2013s The Conjuring, only managed 29 percent after its release.
Peter Deburge of The Verge said of the movie: "This effective yet empty-headed horror movie goes to show how eager audiences are to be scared, and how even an unsightly doll can do the trick when the spirit is willing."
Jim Vejvoda of IGN Movies added: Annabelle: Creation is the rare horror sequel that improves upon the original, featuring more engaging protagonists and a far less problematic ending.
