Daniel Craig has managed to turn his Bond future into one of the most protracted sagas in Hollywood.

Last year the British actor made it abundantly clear that he had no plans to continue as 007, stating that he'd "rather break this glass and slash my wrists" than continue in the role.

Fans began to argue over who should take up the mantle, and betting shops have no doubt made a good chunk of change throwing different names into the mix, including Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy and Idris Elba.

But producer Barbara Broccoli was determined to convince Craig to return for Bond 25 - and after months and months of speculation, it was rumoured that the Arsene Wenger of the film world had finally given in, accepting a mammoth $150 million payday to slip on a Savile Row suit once again.

Well, you'll be glad to know that Craig has finally put us out of our misery, revealing on Stephen Colbert's The Late Show that he'll play the character for the fifth time.

"I have been quite cagey about it. I have been doing interviews all day and people have been asking me and I think I've been rather coy. But kind of felt like if I was going to speak the truth I should speak truth to you."

Colbert asks: 'We could use some good news here. Daniel Craig, will you return as James Bond?'

The actor replies: "Yes."

Craig then went on to suggest that he think this will be his last mission, saying :"I think this is it. I just want to go out on a high note and I can't wait," he said.

Sure, whatever you say mate.

Can someone check that Idris is alright?
