There's been some scepticism about the forthcoming It remake after director Cary Fukunaga walked away from the project and book author Stephen King claims he wasn't asked to be involved in the making of the film.

That said, King has also stepped in to stop the Pennywise loving public panicking, saying we should "stop worrying" and that producers have done "a wonderful job". (Good news, given how he felt about Stanley Kubrick's work on The Shining adaptation.)

Better still, critics and writers who have been lucky enough to attend early screenings have been more than complimentary, suggesting we may just have that rarest of things - a good remake of a classic film - on our hands.
