We wouldn't blame you if 'Cabaret' wasn't the first, second, third or fourth film on your mind when it came to great film style. But, having given it a fair look, we feel a reappraisal is long overdue.
We're not talking about Liza Minelli's style in the film, the style comes from Michael York's so-stereotypically-English-it-hurts character, Brian Roberts. He does have a sharp eye for mixing patterns, 1/2 arm length cable knit sweaters and fair isle tank tops. The other thing about his style is that his wardrobe is rather limited - (carry on luggage restrictions perhaps?) - making this a triumph of a well edited capsule wardrobe as well as great styling.
