Channel 4's new four-part series Extreme Male Beauty, which starts tonight at 10pm, invites four slobs to transform themselves - using cutting edge products and techniques - into buffed, bronzed hunks of men. Can't wait.
Apparently inspired by the rise in "finely honed and perfectly groomed male flesh on public display" the programme-makers have asked 35-year-old journalist Tim Shaw, a self-confessed "skinny fat bloke" to explore further.
In episode one he'll meet a 'roid-chomping body builder and an ex-very-fat bloke, as well as our ab-crunching colleagues over at Men's Health magazine. Like Dawn Porter and her naked crusades before him, Shaw is a likeable presenter whose personal quest for information and contentment just happens to involve getting his kecks off for the nation.
However, we doubt Ofcom would have allowed Dawn to be placed on a pillar in a roomful of men so they could express disgust at her wobbly bits, as Tim is in this clip. But that's progress, right? Tonight, 10pm, Channel 4
