Anchorman 2 trailer: 5 things we've learned about Ron Burgundy's comeback

Still proving that he's kind of a big deal, Will Ferrell's Ron Burgundy caused a stir this week when the new trailer for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues arrived. The smooth-as-silk newscaster's latest exploits have been kept under wraps, but with the gut-bustingly funny promo now out in the wild here are 5 things you need to know about Anchorman 2.

1. The Channel 4 news team are on the verge of a comeback...

The transition from '70s to '80s has not been an easy one for Ron, Brick, Brian and Champ. The implication is that the team have disbanded and fallen on hard times, only coming back together after a push from Johnny Knoxville's Global News Network boss.

"I'm going to do the thing God put Ron Burgundy on this Earth to do: have salon-quality hair and read the news," says Ron.

2. Brick is still monumentally stupid (but may have met his match)...

Steve Carell's thick-as-a-plank weatherman Brick Tamland appears to have regressed his IQ since last time. His ability to smooth-talk the ladies isn't much better, either. "Your hair looks like wet popcorn," he tells his new love interest, played by Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig.

3. The news team have a new rival...

The world of 24-hour rolling news means broadcasters need to be slick and unflappable under pressure - step forward James Marsden's Jack Blime, a new personal and professional foe for Ron Burgundy. Will their rivalry be as contentious as the one he shared with Wes Mantooth?

4. Ron has a son... and a broken marriage?

Brief scenes from the trailer show Ron and Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) on the beach with beloved dog Baxter and their son. Expect this to be a flashback to happier times, though,  because Ron in this movie Ron is hitting the dating scene. And hitting it hard.

5. Ron is struggling to break down the barriers of race...

Ron wines and dines his new boss (Meagan Good), and there's a romantic charge between the pair that risks being extinguished thanks to the newscaster's disastrous dinner table conversation. Watch it and weep!
