Take in this nightmare-inducing new trailer for deep space thriller Gravity. Has a more terrifying (or immersive) film trailer come out this year?
Starring an even-dashing-in-zero-gravity George Clooney, Gravity is the latest from tremendously hype-y Mexican auteur, Alfonso Cuarón, whose best film is undoubtedly the dystopian drama Children of Men, but who’s best known for giving the Harry Potter franchise its first proper grit, with The Prisoner of Azkaban.
The hallmarks of any CGI-driven, IMAX-centric mediocrity seem (for now) happily absent. In the hands so many other directors this’d be a stylish, soulless nothing. With Cuarón, though, we know emotional credibility comes with the territory.
Whether this ends up being a genre-redefining film (The Matrix) or going on the sentimental sci-fi scrapheap (After Earth) remains to be seen.
One thing we do know? £150,000+ tickets to space just got way, way less sexy.
Gravity is out 13 October
