Scarlett Johansson 'Lucy' Trailer Drops

New movie sees actress given superhuman brain powers

As if Scarlett Johannson didn't seem supernatural enough at the best of times, her new film Lucy shows her literally wielding godlike powers.

The sci-fi adventure, directed by Luc Besson, sees her character inadvertently ingest a substance that, as Morgan Freeman's sage-like professor explains, allows her to access 100% of the human brain's potential – resulting in telekinesis, super strength and the kind of speed reading ability not seen since Short Circuit.

It looks like a solid enough action flick, with Johannson doing the superhero badass bit she's perfected in recent years as Black Widow in the Avengers series (a role which is rumoured to be getting a solo outing soon). Besson, of course, is sure hand at this sort of thing, with District 13, the Transformer films and The Fifth Element all in his locker.

Lucy is the latest in a tidal wave of Johannson movies in 2014, most notably the eerie art house thriller Under The Skin in which she spent several months filming in Scotland, often naked. For that effort, she's surely earned another silly popcorn blockbuster.
