Byran Cranston has hinted that Walter White could return, sending a spasm of almost certainly misplaced excitement through the internet.
His comments, offered to CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield during a televised interview, were in reality little more than a going-along-with-it moment of joviality – though it says something about the fanaticism that still surrounds Breaking Bad that they spread faster than a bag of blue meth in Albuquerque.
The exchange went as followed (spoiler alert):
Banfield: “I’m going to ask you, really, seriously, I wasn’t so sure that you died, I really wasn’t. Your eyes were open and I thought, ‘what if the police just take him into custody, he gets better, breaks out and just goes nuts?'"
Cranston: “Hey, you never saw bags zip up or anything."
Banfield: “Is he dead?”
Cranston: “I don’t know."
Banfield: “No movie? No nothing? No Walter White ever again?”
Cranston: “Never say never."
Given Cranston’s well-established affection for Breaking Bad fans and general nice guy status – not to mention the smirk on his face – we really wouldn’t take this as proof Vince Gillingan is sat somewhere writing season six or, God forbid, a movie spinoff. But hey, it’s nice to dream.
