Gone Girl was a huge hit when it was released in 2012; part mystery, part thriller, it explored the disappearance of Amy Dunne, and the pressure on her husband as the police investigation and media circus began to show cracks in his behavior.
The book plays Nick’s suspicious narrative off against Amy’s early diary entries, suggesting their marriage is not what appears when unreliability between the two versions of events emerge,
But now a film adaptation is on the horizon, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in the leading roles and directed by David Fincher. And it's every bit as tense and forboding as the books.
Gone Girl is released on October 3rd
