Netflix will make its first foray into feature films next year, by releasing the sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon on its streaming service and in IMAX theatres.
The move comes after the streaming service has firmly established itself as purveyors of quality original small screen drama, including House of Cards and Orange Is The New Black.
Those hoping to see Ang Lee back in the directors chair, though, will be disappointed. Filming duties for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Destiny have been taken over by Woo-ping Yuen, mostly known for his work as the stunt director on Kill Bill Vol. 2.
Although the film will be based upon the Crane-Iron Pentalogy books written by Wang Du Lu, the films in depth plot details are currently unknown. However, Michelle Yeoh will be reprising her role from the first film as Yu Shu Lein.
We're hoping to see twice as much over-the-top stunt work than we did in the first instalment.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny will be released on 28 August 2015.
Will you be streaming the sequel?
