Good news, everyone.

Ian McKellen will be starring as an elderly Sherlock Holmes in the upcoming film Mr Holmes. And if this new clip of McKellen "in action" as the legendary sleuth is any indication, his aged version of Holmes will essentially be Gandalf in a slightly shorter hat.

In the nearly one-and-a-half-minute teaser, we see McKellen in a robe, hobbling across a Shire-like expanse of green with cane in hand, reminiscing about an an old case to a curious little boy. It's a known fact that England turns out the world's kindliest old men, and I think it's now safe to say you can't get any kindlier or more lovable than McKellen.

We'll see if his 93-year-old Sherlock Holmes still has enough energy for one last case when Mr Holmes hits cinemas this summer. You can watch the clip above.
