Blade Runner 2 Is A Go

Harrison Ford is back on board as Deckard, with Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve rumoured to take the helm

It’s been rumoured for some time, but today the news fans of bleak, dystopian sci-fi have been waiting for is here: Blade Runner 2 is in development and Harrison Ford will reprise his role as disgruntled blade runner Rick Deckard.

After the turbulent relationship between original director Ridley Scott and Ford, it may also be good news that Scott is on board as a producer only, with Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve rumoured to take the helm.

Little is known about the plot at this point, although presumably the film will take place around 30 years after the 1982 original, meaning the action should catch up with Deckard around 2050.

Ford has also called the script ‘the best thing he’s ever read’.

No pressure then.

Can it match the first?
