The first trailer for Dark Places – an adaptation of Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn's sophomore novel – has been released.
The film stars Charlize Theron as Libby Day, lone survivor of a family massacre in which she identified her brother as the culprit. Twenty five years later, still haunted, she eyes an opportunity to profit from the killings when a group of sleuths – dubbed the Kill Club – begin to probe her past.
Having been finished for some time, it's no surprise that a release for Dark Places has been fasttracked following the success of Gone Girl, which has become David Fincher's highest grossing film to date.
A TV adaptation of Flynn's debut novel Sharp Objects is currently in production with all eyes in Hollywood fixed on whatever Flynn's next project may be.
Dark Places will be released later this year.
