The Departed; Django Unchained; The Wolf of Wall Street – the list of films Leonardo DiCaprio should have won an Oscar for continues. Not looking to be an addition to that list, however, is The Revenant – for which a trailer has just arrived.
Written and directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu – fresh from his very own Oscar win for Birdman – the film, set in the 1820s, follows Hugh Glass, a frontiersman seeking vengeance against the people who left him for dead after a bear mauling. The film, adapted from Michael Punke's 2003 novel, is based on true events.
Tom Hardy co-stars as Glass' former partner while Will Poulter and Domhnall Glesson will also appear in as-of-yet unspecified roles.
The action-heavy trailer sees Iñárritu replicating the long takes he deployed in Birdman – only instead of Michael Keaton in his pants, this time around it'll be DiCaprio firing shotguns on horseback.
If we weren't signed up already...
The Revenant is released on 15 January.
