Game of Thrones season 6 can't come soon enough – what with the whole Jon Snow thing to solve – and now Ian McShane has added to the anticipation.

The famed Deadwood actor recently signed up for the HBO fantasy drama, and it was reported at the time that his character would have 'huge significance' on the story.

McShane has now spoken to Pop Goes The News, revealing that he's only in one episode and that fans may have even seen his character before.

"I'll give you one hint," he said. "I am responsible for bringing somebody back that you think you're never going to see again. I'll leave it at that."

Meanwhile, according to Entertainment Weekly, casting calls for McShane's role pitched for a "gruff ex-soldier who found religion" and was "now a no-nonsense rural priest who ministers to the poor of the countryside".

Hmm. Just who could Ian McShane be resurrecting?

Game of Thrones returns to Sky Atlantic in the UK and HBO in the US next spring.
