OK, so this video entitled ‘What could the future of football look like’ refers to the pretend version they play in America, but it would only be a matter of years before the ‘mixed reality HoloLens headset’ it is advertising is rolled out in the UK too.
In this bold vision for a new spectator experience, you invite your mates round for the big game and pop on headset which means you can’t actually see each other but you can see a series of holograms and stats floating around like an immersive go on FIFA.
As you’d expect from a company of Microsoft’s resources, it’s a well-made promo video, though we can’t help but notice the people having the most fun in it appear to be those who aren’t fiddling with a Velcro strap and accidentally pouring beer down their chin. Just an observation.
