Oscar Winner Alicia Vikander Is Going To Be The New Lara Croft

Move over Angelina

It's been officially announced that Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander will play Lara Croft in an upcoming reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise.

Vikander, who won the Best Actress Oscar this year for her role in weepy drama The Danish Girl, as well as starring in the brilliantly disturbing Ex Machina, will be inheriting the tank top and combat shorts made famous by Angelina Jolie in the early 2000s.

The new Tomb Raider, directed by the fantastically named Norwegian, Roar Uthuag, will focus on Lara Croft's first adventure, because everyone loves an origin story; with a release date currently scheduled for some time towards the end of 2017.

Before that we can look forward to seeing her sooner in the latest Bourne film, alongside a very angry Matt Damon.
